I was thrilled to join San Diego City Councilman Scott Sherman for the groundbreaking of a 5,000 square foot station for park rangers at Mission Trails Regional Park. The new building will have public restrooms and a 3,000 square foot covered picnic area. There will also be a spectacular piece of art that doubles as a drinking fountain! Winter 2019!
Saying goodbye to a friend and an incredible leader in San Diego County. Colonel Jason Woodworth is leaving MCAS Miramar to work at the Pentagon. The Change of Command ceremony was bittersweet because I'm sad to see him go, but his talent and leadership in D.C. will be for the greater good of our country. I look forward to working with his successor, Colonel James Dockery.
It's not official until you cut a red ribbon! I was happy to help welcome a new member, DexYP, to the Escondido Chamber of Commerce. The software provider will be a great addition to the North County. It was also really nice having coffee and catching up with other members of the Chamber. Sounds like business is steaming right along!
Remember this young lady's name and face. 14 year old Sophia Righthouse is a Master Sergeant with the Young Marines in Miramar and has been named "Young Marine of the Year" 6 times! She has a 4.0 GPA at Westview High and more than 600 hours of volunteer work under her belt. Sophia is credited with saving several lives after noticing an apartment fire and helping evacuate everyone inside. There isn't enough space to list the rest of her accomplishments! I presented her with a County proclamation for her heroic and selfless efforts during the fire. Sophia is a remarkable young lady who may someday be our President.
LEGOLAND CA is showing its appreciation for active members of the military by offering free admission to the park as well as to Sea Life Aquarium and LEGOLAND Waterpark through the month of August. A big thank you to all of you who have served our country!
